Southern masked weaver (also known as African masked weaver) hangs from the entrance to its nest in Kruger National Park in South Africa.
We made our first trip to South Africa in 1990 to visit friends of ours who were working at a business magazine in Johannesburg. On the trip, we had several once-in-a-lifetime experiences including staying in a hut at Kruger National Park beside the Sabi River. Our first evening there, I walked to the river and spent an hour watching this bird expand its nest.
