Cross country skiing on the lake in Central Park with the Dakota Hotel and the twin spires of the San Remo in the distance on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City.
Central Park was always my go to location in the city when snowstorms hit. In Manhattan, the city was so efficient at snow removal that if you weren't outside while the snow fell, it was gone from Times Square and Rockefeller Center before the final flake fell. But Central Park? It was majestic in the snow.
Skiing across a frozen lake in Manhattan is a trip. I talked to a couple of the athletes who told me it was there favorite time in Central Park, when it truly felt like the countryside of Manhattan.
