I moved to Brooklyn in 1989 from Tampa, Florida, during a career that took me to three newspapers across the south, culminating with my photography career in New York City.
The urban environment in New York City is a different kind of lifestyle. The architecture and people are ever changing. I witnessed a city rejuvenated in the 90s, the devastation of 9/11, the new reality of the 21st century, and the depth of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Through it all, New York City stands as a beacon of urban beauty even as it struggles through each and every adversity thrown at it. The hidden treasures of the past are interspersed throughout the new construction changing its landscape. I've documented it the only way I know how, through my images in the New York City Collection.
